By the time Metal Madness turned into Metal Overlord, Team Sonic had prepared the Emeralds and Sonic transformed into Super Sonic while also granting Tails and Knuckles their Super States as well, and Team Sonic followed Metal Overlord into the sky. Team Sonic thus got the Chaos Emeralds ready while Team Rose, Dark, and Chaotix fought Metal Madness. Knuckles and Tails, however, joined Sonic's side while the other teams volunteered to buy them some time. Though their chances of winning were slim, Sonic volunteered to go up against Metal Sonic alone. Eggman came up with the plan of using them against Metal Sonic. Seeing that the teams had all the Chaos Emeralds, the real Dr. Soon after, Team Sonic and the other teams saw the return of Metal Sonic, who had been staging the teams' adventures and impersonating Eggman so he could follow them and copy their data in an effort to conquer the world himself, as he transformed into Metal Madness. Team Sonic heading out to fight Metal Overlord. With their mission complete, Sonic thanked his teammates before running away when he saw Amy arrive.
Afterward, Team Sonic set off a chain reaction that destroyed most of the Egg Fleet. Eggman in his Egg Emperor and defeated him. After infiltrating the Final Fortress and destroying its core, Team Sonic found Dr. After escaping a haunted mansion, Team Sonic overcame Eggman's next wave of robot henchmen, before going up to the Egg Fleet. After the two teams fought to decide who went after Eggman, Team Sonic pursued Eggman and Team Dark to a spooky castle. Chasing after Eggman through the jungle, Team Sonic encountered Team Dark, and were amazed to see Shadow alive and well. However, upon Eggman's defeat, they discovered that the Eggman they had been chasing was a fake and that their challenge letter was to distract them while Eggman launched his Egg Fleet. Having only until sunset to stop Eggman, Team Sonic hurried to the center of Bullet Station where they destroyed Eggman's base and defeated Eggman and his Egg Albatross. After overcoming Eggman and his robot army in the big city with only a day to spare, Team Sonic followed Eggman to Rail Canyon. Eventually escaping Team Rose, Team Sonic continued their hunt for Eggman. After liberating the city from Eggman's control and escaping the Power Plant, Team Sonic came across Team Rose, who began fighting them. After that, Team Sonic tracked Eggman to Grand Metropolis. There, they defeated his Egg Hawk, but Eggman escaped. Team Sonic tracked down Eggman to Ocean Palace. Seeking to stop Eggman before his deadline. After receiving the letter, Sonic headed out with Tails and Knuckles right behind him to foil Eggman's plot, thereby officially forming Team Sonic. Eggman, which said that in just three days time, the doctor would conquer the world with "the ultimate weapon" and that he challenged the trio to stop him.
In Sonic Heroes, Team Sonic's members came together when Tails and Knuckles tracked Sonic down in order to show him a letter from Dr. 2.3 Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.2.2 Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.
